Introduction

Independent Service (we, us, our, the site, the system) is subject to the Privacy Act 1988 (the Act, the Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) described therein. APPs set out the way in which organisations may collect, store, use and disclose personal information and how a person can access and/or correct records containing their personal information.

Collection of personal information

Some basic personal information is collected and used within the system.

We take the approach of only collecting and storing the minimum amount of personal information to enable the practical and efficient operation of the Independent Service site. This is essentially information to pass to a service provider for the purpose of them providing you with a service.

Use of personal information

Personal information is used for:

• taking bookings on behalf of service providers
• regulating access to the system (i.e. as login credentials in the case of service providers themselves)
• identification of individuals within the context of business information (e.g. identifying the individual who have made a booking)
• facilitating communication between service providers and their customers (e.g. sending notifications to relevant individuals)

Such personal information is not used for any purpose other than that which is deemed necessary for the practical and efficient operation of the service. Additionally the site may collect:

• IP addresses
• information about device, operating system and browser types
• date and time of access to the site
• pages visited within the site

This information is collected primarily for the purposes of security, maintenance of the site and, in aggregate, for analysis of usage patterns.

Providing us with your personal information

During the booking process, you will be asked to provide:

• the address where you require service (not necessarily your home or work address but likely to be so)
• your name
• a contact phone number
• possibly additional information pertaining to the service such as your vehicle details or other as relevant to the service

If you do not wish to provide us with this information, you are free to engage with the service provider via other means who will then advise you on your options relating to usage what information they require to provide you with the service you require.

Accessing your personal information

To request access to your personal information, please email us at enquiries@independentportal.com.au. When making such a request, please provide sufficient details to facilitate our identification and verification of records that contain your personal information.

We will take reasonable endeavours to provide you access to your personal information in accordance with relevant legislation and regulation.

Making a complaint

If you believe Independent Service has breached the APPs you may lodge a complaint with us at info@independentservice.com.au and we will respond as soon as practicable.
